Yard Fountian Named Larry
I made this fountain to look like the Larry O'Brien NBA championship trophy. I used scrap rebar, 4" ABS pipe, an old basketball, leftover concrete from a job site, an old plastic planter, a piece of waste garden hose, and an old fire extinguisher housing.

Here's how I made it.
I made it in sections and filling each section with concrete on the first day. Then I assembled the sections on the second day. I cut a small opening in the ball and filled with concrete, with a hose coming out a tight hole on top. Then I added a stick of scrap rebar, with the tip bent, into the concrete filled ball. On day 1, I also attached the base (2+"s of concrete in a plastic planter) to a piece of 4" ABS pipe. I ran old garden hose from the ball, through the old fire extinguisher housing, then through the ABS pipe. I drilled a hole for the hose near the bottom of the ABS pipe just above the concrete (which will attach to the pump when full of water). 3 short sticks of job site garbage rebar, bent 90 degrees at base inside tied all together nicely and firmly. On day 2, I set the housing on the base, the ball on the top, filled all with concrete and carefully leveled it while it all set up. It came out way better than I ever expected and it works great. It's a bird magnet in the summer. I used:
- scrap rebar
- 4" ABS pipe
- old basketball
- left-over concrete from a job site
- old plastic planter
- a piece of garden hose
- an old fire extinguisher housing
